// how it works

Three steps. Zero servers to run.

mxproxy receives mail for your domain and passes it on. Your inbox stays right where it is.

  1. Point your MX

    Add the domain in the dashboard and copy the records it shows you: MX, SPF, DKIM and a verification TXT. The dashboard checks the DNS for you.

  2. Create your forwarders

    One address per line, with up to 10 destinations each, depending on the plan. Want everything sent to the domain? Turn on catch-all.

  3. That’s it

    Mail starts arriving at the destinations. The log shows every message: accepted, delivered, deferred, rejected or flagged as spam.

// features

What a forwarder has to get right.

Forwarding is easy. Landing in the inbox instead of the spam folder is the hard part.

Catch-all

Any address on the domain without its own forwarder goes to the destinations you pick. Typos don’t lose mail.

Multiple destinations

Each address delivers to up to 10 inboxes at once (5 on Starter, 2 on Personal), one copy per destination domain, never duplicated.

Outbound SMTP with DKIM

Reply as hello@yourcompany.com over port 587, with STARTTLS and a password per credential. Every message leaves signed with your domain’s DKIM key.

SRS and ARC

The forwarded envelope is rewritten with SRS and sealed with ARC: SPF passes at the destination and the original authentication results travel along.

Spam filtering

SPF, DKIM and DMARC checked on the way in, plus a per-domain spam filter with an adjustable level: you decide how strict it is.

API and teams

Invite the people who run your domains with you, and automate domains and forwarders through the REST API, with a token per team.

Messages per day count forwarded and sent mail together. Over the limit, incoming mail gets a temporary deferral (the sender retries later) and sending over SMTP is refused until the next day. The Free plan takes 10 messages a month: past that, incoming mail is refused, with a notice to the sender, until the next month.

// faq

Frequently asked questions.

What do you keep from my messages?

Only what it takes to deliver them and to show you what happened. A message sits in the queue until it is delivered and is deleted 30 days later. The log (sender, recipient, subject, size and status) is also deleted after 30 days. No ads, no selling data, no reading your mail for anything else.

Why SRS?

When we forward a message from someone@bank.com, we are the ones delivering it, and the bank’s SPF doesn’t authorize our server. Without SRS, Gmail would see a failing SPF and send it to spam or reject it. SRS rewrites the envelope sender to an address of ours: SPF passes, the sender you see is still the original one, and any bounce goes back to whoever sent it.

What if mxproxy goes down?

Whatever we already accepted is in a durable queue in the database: we only acknowledge a message after it is stored. When we are back, the queue picks up and redelivers, retrying for up to 5 days. While we are down, the sending server holds on to the message and tries again, like every mail server does.

Is the Free plan really free?

Yes: no card and no time limit. It covers one domain, with all mail going to the catch-all (one destination mailbox), and 10 messages a month. Per-address forwarders, outbound SMTP and channels come with Personal and up, which you can subscribe to from the dashboard whenever you like.
